I gave someone explicit instructions to delete records in a specific table, I wrote them a very specific SQL script to run that will do it for them....they ignored the script and deleted the table. Now they are on the phone yelling and it makes me sad that I have to deal with this special kind of stupid.

Ugh, you have my sympathies. I have dealt with people like that and have learned that most of them shouldn't have IT jobs in the first place.

That's the problem with text based communications. The reader tries to give the writer the benefit of the doubt, and give the material a non insane interpretation. Then the writer says, no no no, I entirely wanted to go with the most insane interpretation possible. It all makes sense now.

When I learned SQL the thing that shocked me most was how easy it is to just annihilate tables. Better you than me, friendo!

A stream of constant health updates isn't as interesting as one might think.

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men. Edward R. Murrow
