clients who send us random amounts of money that don't match up at all to what they owe.
PB: One day you'll need this number: 988.
We only serve one size coffee at work, 16oz. This dude asked for two smalls so I said that we only have one size and before I say anything else he is like that is outrageous I thought only chains forced you to super size....
My face -_- when I tried to explain I'd be happy to charge him for one and give him two half cups (8oz each).
Our coffee is also the least expensive in town, other than a gas station that has 1.98 8oz cups. Ours are 2 bucks for 16, totally not a rip off or anything.

Which is why my employer garuntees 10/hr regardless of my tips. If I make tips, then they pay less but if I make no tips they pay at least ten/hr. I don't exect someone to tip me on a coffee, and I feel two dollars is reaonabke for the cost of the cup, sleeve, lid and excessive amounts of cream that people use. I only expect tips if I actually serve you your food. Of course, some people tip on coffee and some don't. It balances out. Also,it isn't the water and crushed beans you are paying for, it is having someone else brew and serve the coffee, clean the shop and take your order with a smile that you are paying for. Making coffee at home is cheaper, but people want others to do it for them and that is what you are paying for

Oh, I wasn't necessarily talking about you. I just laugh when I go to a starbucks or something and they have a tip jar sitting there.
I only tip if it is restaurant where there is a waiter that actually delivers my food to me. Or a bartender. 90% of my tipping is probably to bartenders. I go to bars a lot. I'm such a drunk.

Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam
I have a huge tip jar, but it's not on top of the counter, it's like set back and to the side behind the muffin thing, you have to kinda want to tip me to look for it. Our system does display different tip options before the signing screen but it obviously has a no tip button too. I used to tip 1 dollar on every coffee I bought before I got a job here, and it was actually one of the reasons the owners hired me, because I was always pleasant and tipped well lol. I got a five dollar tip on delivering one sandwich about ten feet and was like, trying to give the guy change. He laughed at me.
