I'm on board with preserving meat, seems like a good idea. Flavor enhancement also seems an odd thing to deride, what's wrong with spices? Antibiotics could be worrisome, but I can't find any evidence comparing the bacteria on meat from antibiotic-fed animals vs. otherwise, let alone pre- to post- cooked in each case.

call it a warning, not a belittlement.

I don't think anyone runs around espousing the health benefits of McDonalds or other fast food restaurants. I am certain it is pretty well known that it isn't health food. You are basically "warning" people that fire is hot.

Although the guy in the documentary "Fat Head" (made in response to Super Size Me) at McDonalds every day for 30 days, walked 6 days a week, and lost 13 pounds after the month was through. Do I think McDonalds had him lose weight? No, it was the physical exercise he did.

The problem with your train of thought: On one side, you have the big food lobbyists ready to push any cost saving feature into food production. On the other side you have hippies telling you that organic is better, because reasons. You have everyone then trying to profit on selling the latest pseudo scientific trend that's based on specious arguments.

If every single self proclaimed nutritionist get their way, then most of the world population would starve. We'd require far more land to grow your speshul foods, we'd spend far more money shipping the latest grains across the oceans on polluting tankers, we'd strip the indigenous cultures of their traditional foodstuff, so some boring person living in the heatsink of some major city can take a few bites of a quinoa salad in a trendy restaurant.

The occasional McDonald's burger isn't going to ruin your health. A slice of white bread isn't going to destroy your intestines. An organic pesticide can kill you just as quickly as a manufactured one. Pretty music and pretty pictures can fool you just as easily as anything else you don't understand.

That said, I love me some McDonald's fries.
Their breakfast might be some of the tastiest creations on planet earth. Very rarely do I have it however. Good hangover food, when you just want to lay in bed all day and recuperate.

I used to love their breakfast sandwiches until I tried Burger King's versions. BK won that contest hands down.

I belittle the parents who use fast food as their children's primary food source.

I read a story once about a guy who loved BigMacs so much he literally eats 2 everyday and has been for something like 30 years. He goes to McDonald's once a week to buy a week's worth and he freezes them and thaws them throughout the week.

His doctor was surprised at how healthy he is, all things considered.

The moral of the story? BigMacs make you live forever.

I don't consider that one in the same. That is just bad parenting.
