Why is the right running from this topic so fast now? It used to just be a science issue. An issue about measuring and observation to learn how we should respond. Now it's tied up in an almost faith based anti-intellectualism that humans don't cause it, it will happen anyway, I'll be dead before it's too bad and we can't stop it so why try and CHINA! It's like having a conversation with Sybil.
Is the conservative movement so full of sheep that they will lead wherever their shepherd points, even if it's off a cliff. Is there no care at all for attempting to make improvements or to leave the land better for our children and their grandchildren?
What happened to conservative leaders like this. Ultimately my questions for conservatives (at least today's mutant version) is this: What the fuck are you so afraid of? Are you so scared that you won't even try?
President George Bush, Sr in 1990: "We all know that human activities are changing the atmosphere in unexpected and in unprecedented ways."Richard Nixon in 1970: AS YOU KNOW, the bill we are signing today is the environmental bill. There is one line in there that I am particularly stimulated by, when I said we had to work on the environment because it is now or never.
