I agree. I think this is only something that the Democrats could have ever done (like seriously dealing with illegal immigration/ID cards is only something the Republicans could have done) and they bobbled it up, predictably, since they're the party of no balls as opposed to the party of no soul. In retrospect, Obama should have pushed it through before Ted Kennedy was in the ground and then he maybe would've had a shot at making it better, but Obama still believed that he could do his middle of the road compromise game with the Republican Party at that point, stupidly. I think he thought that because he took a Republican idea that they'd be on board.

The problem with these news reports and anecdotal experiences are that we never will see the full picture.

My situation of saving about $800 a month with this and getting the same level of coverage should offset with Anticor's brother now paying in $700. I don't know how this used to work in the past to be quite honest, but maybe I was previously subsidizing either the hospitals or insurance network they were apart of so that in the event something happened he would get help.

The issue with CRB's 60 year old story is that yet again my experience, and a number of people I work with who are similar, should be offsetting their new payments, because again I might have been subsidizing them and just not knowing it. This isn't like social security where you pay in and rely on people coming after you to make up the difference. This is everyone pays across the board every year and we all put in so that all insurance companies will make profits, but no greater than 20% of collected monies. I do empathize with people who will have to make the financial adjustments in their household to switch over to the new plans.

Additionally, there are several plans available outside the exchanges here in MN that are now being advertised on the radio. I would just suggest people try contacting insurance providers in your area directly to see if they have a plan that is just not in the exchange.

Until this plan is in place for a while and unless there is a way for them to get statistics on what people paid previous compared to current, and unless that report says Person A paid in $1200 a month for person B to have no insurance, and they now each pay $600 a month, there is not going to be any way to calm people who now have to pay a substantial amount more for healthcare. I understand that people are going to pay more so I can pay less and I get that will make a hardship for some, but I am not mega elated about it like some of the ACA's biggest supporters.

For the first time I am hoping government can screw everyone equally, because that is probably the only "fair" way to do it.

And that's part of the problem, extremists. The extreme supports "ITS GOOD FOR EVERYONE!", the extreme haters "ITS THE DEATH OF 'MURICA AND BAD FOR EVERYONE!", but really it's going to be somewhere in between...which is kind of where we were before it all started.

I don't think that is the case, at least not for the small bubble I live in. I know several people in my office who are recent college grads who did not elect to take the company provided insurance and I know they have used emergency room visits to counteract that. I also know that part of my $1200 a month payment goes to cover that and I think its irresponsible to have a system that works like that.

You really can't get much more affordable than my health insurance. It costs me three dollars a month
(244 for family), has a $1500 deductible then after that it's 80/20. All preventive care is free. 30$ copays. So I literally spend $36 dollars a year for healthcare. But I also work for a good company. Even at my last job it was only 147$ for a single person but that was no copays a 2500$ deductible but then it was covered 100%. And when I bought a plan myself it was only 108$ a month and I just picked what I MIGHT actually use. But I guess I have the motivation to do things for myself.

P.S. These prices you guys are throwing up as affordable are kinda shocking. If I'm spending 600-800 dollars a month for my family I'm going to the doctor once a week after I reach my deductible.

Thankfully non extremists still elect Presidents.

You can't tell me that Obama and Romney are from the most extreme sections of their respective parties.

You need to find out how much your company is paying. What you personally pay, is not the cost of your health care. Additionally, the last statement is one of the reasons our costs are so high, so that would be a pretty silly thing to do.

Nope I wouldn't say that at all. But I would say both got a lot of votes for the simple fact they were D or R which is retarded.
