You can sign up on UPS's website to sign a permanent waiver for packages that require your signature. This will also enable UPS to send you e-mail notifications telling the day before, and the day that they arrive. Just this morning I received a notification that my girlfriend was going to be receiving a package today between 10 and 2. I think you can even set it up so that they'll text you when they leave it at your door.
It's called UPS My Choice.
