What is in dispute is why the student was suspended. Consider an alternative situation: There are 3 black students at the school. One of them is suspended without a full explanation, and theorizes it was because he is black. The existence of multiple other students who are black makes this explanation disputable.

That's a pretty bad analogy and only works if they were all three doing the same thing, like taking down a kid with a gun. If one of three black people in that situation determines he was targeted over the others because he was black, he's an idiot. I'm sure the school officials would have no problem coming out and saying the kid wasn't suspended because he is black, but because of whateverhereallydid. A claim of racism would quickly be stomped out because no one wants to deal with that backlash... these guys are just saying, "We did it. We're right. We're not telling, but we're right. Trust us." No, thanks!

I don't know what specifically the school had in mind, but I can think up a lot of plausible problems including the claimed reason that he was disrespectful. That's not a crime (hence no arrest), but it can absolutely get a student suspended.It sounds like you're saying the student is innocent until proven guilty and the school has to prove their innocence. That doesn't strike you as problematic?

No, I'm saying the student is innocent until proven guilty and the school needs to prove his guilt if they want to not deal with the backlash of suspending a kid for stopping another from shooting people. Consider the events of the past couple years and those idiots have to know people are going to want to hear why this kid was suspended for doing something that might have saved their child's life. What kind of message does suspending this kid send without giving a legit explanation for it? Seems to me they know they'd have more shit tossed on their front door if they came out and said they were strictly adhering to policy.

You're believing the accusation made of the school until they establish to your satisfaction that they had a better reason. That's guilty until proven innocent. You can take "innocent until proven guilty" seriously by not deciding that either party is at fault until you get further evidence, or you can just keep saying it and doing the opposite. It's a free country. I think we both know what Jesus would do, though.

Giving a legit explanation to whom? What business is it of yours, mine, or anyone else's but the kid's? We don't have a right to know everything about everyone at all times. We're not the federal government.

This school thinks that they are the shizzit. They think they are the best in the county and bullshit bullshit bullshit. I guess that they pretty much rule the kid's lives outside of school too, as much as inside of school. I'd like to know why they think that punishing a good student who has had no other issues, good grades, who is talented and happy over something that wasn't said on school grounds, or overheard by a staff member for that matter is okay. It wasn't in writing either, it was a fucking joke at a friend's house. She even apologized to the teacher over and over...and I'm sure humiliated at the same time. She apologized to the principle too. Why take this further?

I know this is a few days late, but this is not entirely unheard of.

My high school would expel any student who was "discovered" to have drank alcohol underage (they were all underage, so, basically if they discovered it) or did drugs. Didn't have to be on school grounds, but at ALL. This would be bad enough, except . . .

During one summer break, there was a pretty big party amongst the sophomores and juniors. The dean of students somehow found out about their party and actually hide behind some bushes and recorded every student he saw drinking. I think eleven or twelve kids were expelled for it. Didn't know any of them, as I was a freshman at the time, but it was pretty big news when everyone came back in September and found out a dozen kids were expelled during the summer for drinking.

I think DCSL ruined their fingernail and was "making it talk" to people. Added some kind of personality and even a name and occupation in the process. Natural healing has ruined the gaping hole that was the "mouth", so this is no longer possible.

I've ripped about a quarter of my nail off. The top half is coming off but only half of that has ripped off so far. I grossed my co-workers out by making it "talk" and giving it a little voice while it dripped blood. That part is a smile but the throbbing pain is a definite frown.
