This school thinks that they are the shizzit. They think they are the best in the county and bullshit bullshit bullshit. I guess that they pretty much rule the kid's lives outside of school too, as much as inside of school. I'd like to know why they think that punishing a good student who has had no other issues, good grades, who is talented and happy over something that wasn't said on school grounds, or overheard by a staff member for that matter is okay. It wasn't in writing either, it was a fucking joke at a friend's house. She even apologized to the teacher over and over...and I'm sure humiliated at the same time. She apologized to the principle too. Why take this further?
I know this is a few days late, but this is not entirely unheard of.
My high school would expel any student who was "discovered" to have drank alcohol underage (they were all underage, so, basically if they discovered it) or did drugs. Didn't have to be on school grounds, but at ALL. This would be bad enough, except . . .
During one summer break, there was a pretty big party amongst the sophomores and juniors. The dean of students somehow found out about their party and actually hide behind some bushes and recorded every student he saw drinking. I think eleven or twelve kids were expelled for it. Didn't know any of them, as I was a freshman at the time, but it was pretty big news when everyone came back in September and found out a dozen kids were expelled during the summer for drinking.
