You are having an argument with yourself here. What I said was that, as a parent trying to prepare a child for the future and choosing the most useful language to force onto that child, that Spanish would be the smartest choice. I did not say that there are no other languages this child will encounter. But hey, if you want to teach your kid Elvish, or Klingon, more power to you.

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men. Edward R. Murrow

I'll try and clean up the bots and shit later tonight if I'm sober. Down in NC at a customer site and it's very busy (currently on chow). Hotel internet is a FUCKING JOKE. Seriously why do people stay, or book rooms for others, in places that have internet that's like dial up?!

Lately, I'm so used to reading A) Absurdly long books and B) Books with 5 or more installments in a series that normal length, standalone books feel dreadfully short. Rereading World War Z for the first time in a while, and after only 5 hours, I'm nearly finished. So unfulfilling.

Branch out, expand your horizons, pick an unknown author. Someone once said that bored people are boring people. So true.

The point was that I disagree Spanish is the smartest or should be the first choice as an alternative language when you consider things like a global economy and local demographics.

I support this, as I am currently in your favor. Once that ends, I will betray you in a bloody coup to reinstate anticor.

Agree with LeTiskey. Go read something by Gillian Flynn. Your long, luxurious hair won't fall out if you read something other than fantasy or sci-fi.

I'm planning on it. I only own a very few books I reread, and I'm rereading World War Z because it is one of them. What is unfulfilling is how quickly it is over, and I want . . . I guess for lack of a better word, more content within the universe. I'm certainly not bored, as I have plenty to do, but when I find a series/universe I like, I want to explore as much as possible within that universe. That I am 60 pages from being finished so quickly is disheartening.

I have about a 15 different series I'm looking into, I just haven't decided which I want to start with. I think I may truly have to go "series only" for the most part from now on, standalones are simply too short for me, even long ones (The Stand was a good example).

So yeah, less that I have nothing to do/nothing to read, but that something I want to read because I love it so much is ending before I want it to end.

*hiss* Yes it will. I suppose if I really put the effort into it, I could come up with enough non-scifi/non-fantasy books that I liked to count on one hand. But I can't even get that many off the top of my head.
