Do most mothers actually do this? If so, I think I'm going to have to migrate to the "things that blew your mind" folder. My mom is obviously concerned about my welfare and likes me to keep her updated about anything out of the ordinary, but I don't think she even knows where my doctor's office is. She has encouraged me to be independent since I first learned how to put my own socks on (not that it took much encouraging - I've always been the "I can do it myself, Mommy" type). If I need help with something she'd go to hell and back without a second thought, but if I don't involve her in it, my business is my business.

Respect has to be paid in kind- if someone disrespects you so much that they are literally trying to run your life, and you continue to grant respect to them and their actions, then yes, you are indeed a pussy.

Be your own man, or woman, or tranny or whatever. Someone giving birth to you does not obligate you to tolerate them as an adult- they got their reward in the form of orgasms during your formation. It was their choice, which means it was their obligation. I'm not saying you should dump them in a crooked home as soon as they are senile, but allowing them to dictate your life to you and responding with a "Excuse me mum, I don't particularly enjoy you cutting my meat for me. Do you think you might please possibly want to stop someday please?" (I am imagining you as a young british child in this illustration) is definitely the sort of thing that keeps them meddling. Telling them to fuck off is like a sharp slap on across the face of a hysterical person- you aren't really hurting them, but you are damn sure getting them to pay attention.

My mother can be a conniving, manipulative, and downright obtrusive sometimes. I would never tell her to fuck off. Period. That is crossing a line and no matter her actions, that would just be a terrible reflection of myself. As a different example but on the same rationale, I would never hit a woman. Period. That is not who I am. Have I been tempted to do either of those? Sure. But I have self-control and would never cross that line.

Beyond that, I feel there are simply other more effective ways of handling that besides telling your own mother to fuck off. You are not a 'tough guy' by doing that. You are a disgrace to your family name. I hope your mother's orgasm was so damn good when conceiving you that she doesn't have to linger on the thought of why she didn't abort your pathetic excuse for a human being.

Respect for your parents becomes a two way street when you reach adulthood. It sucks, but some parents are not deserving of it, and you are certainly in no position to judge people or preach about how their views and familial relationships should be like yours.

I agree respect is a two way street. Like I said above, I have my own moral standards and just wouldn't handle it that way. The internet, and forums specifically, is a perfect place to pass judgment on people and to give your opinion on the matter.

I feel that parents do deserve respect just because they're your parents, and for no other reason. I also believe that it is possible to un-earn (for lack of a better word) that respect. If your parents are tolerable-or-above, great. If not, there's only so much someone is expected to take. Sooner or later, truly abysmal parents forfeit any respect they may have been entitled to. I was extremely lucky in who I ended up with for a mother, but not everyone is so fortunate.

I won't deny that I was brought up with values not to tell my mother to fuck off and to not hit women. Yes I have examined those moral standards and I am completely comfortable with them.

I never said you have to take endless amounts of shit or that it is noble to do so. Again, I am suggesting that telling your mother to fuck off is not the best solution to fix it.
