Thread: cman bond research

    Default cman bond research

So I'm bonding to a new weapon and I decided to figure out how long it takes, since I don't think anyone's ever posted the numbers. Or maybe they have and I'm just wasting time..

I've been hunting warcamps exclusively so far, so it can be assumed that the average level of creature killed is equal to mine (100).

After parsing my logs so far:

The orc xxx falls to the ground and dies. 98 times
You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
The orc/troll xxx falls to the ground and dies. 202 times
You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
The orc/troll xxx falls to the ground and dies. 302 times
You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.

Only bonded to rank 3 so far, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that it will take 400 same level kills for rank 4 and 500 for rank 5.

So we're looking at 1500 kills to bond completely. I'll finish this up this week some time hopefully, and post the final results.

That's good stuff, Brute. PM me with what you have once you're done and I will throw it up on Krakiipedia if you aren't an editor.

That seems so incredibly straightforward I can't believe no one has gotten around to this before...hah.

also, looks like you took the plunge and went with the twc blunt path. What are you swinging now, if you don't mind my asking? You had some pretty great THW toys so i'm curious what you swapped them out for

7x perfect spikestar is what I'm bonding with... should be at least 9x soon if they get the damn PP system fixed.

Offhand I've been using the 4x gem-eater morning star... burns through trolls (and sapphires). Also have the chaos mace to play with offhand.

Nice, some fun toys. The chaos should be good times. That trollslayer OHE set that went up recently would have been pretty damn fun in sunfist too.

At one point I had a chance to pick up the gem eating sai, i passed. Woulda gemmed myself out of house and home with that thing with how often i had to hit things with the sais.

Those trollslayer weapons are great for RP, that's about it. They flare every 10 swings or so and it's just a standard fire flare.

The gem eating weapons don't have standard flares?

not the greatest weapons ever made, but worst case scenario it's still a pair of 8ish-x (on average) fire flaring weapons. Not too shabby, and the RP aspect does make it extra fun.

    hunting nothing but warcamps...

    egrep "orc.*dies|giant.*dies|troll.*dies|spikestar strengthen" Brute.txt > bonding.txt

    sam@SLACK:/library/web/gs$ grep -n strength bonding.txt

99:You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
302:You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
605:You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
1011:You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
1516:You feel your spiritual bond with your vultite spikestar strengthen.
I think this makes a pretty clear case that it's rank * 100 like-level kills required to bond. I wasn't grouped or sharing the kills with anyone, so I can't say as to whether you get credit without dealing the killing blow.
