I should never have come here to make a post. Now I'm toying with the idea of coming back. Argh!

What does the peak amount of players look like these days? At the time I quit it used to be something like 1700-1800 online users.

You're going to be sadly disappointed.

I started graphing it but shortly afterwards Simu took away the ability to see "X number of brave adventurers" ... I don't think they liked the public having a graphed view.

Here's a typical day:

And a typical week:

Dragonrealms is a bit more populated:

So DR + GS = ~1100 accounts

1100 * ~26/mo = $28,600/mo

Decent revenue IMO.

Wow. Any thoughts of coming back have been squashed. LOL!

That doesn't even take into account that half the population run two accounts minimum. HAHAHA

So real numbers would be more like a peak of 250-300?

Why would the number of players squash your return.
The game is the same with 300 or 1500.

There is a huge difference between 300 and 1500 players. Gemstone is essentially one big chatroom with extra perks.

I'd imagine 80% of the hunting areas in the game is completely desolate of players resulting in everyone congregating to only a few prime leveling spots and the rest of the game is just empty space.

What if you were to die? Log into another character in town and plead for someone to go get you? lol. Or be lucky enough to have a cleric sub-account?

You get rescued or if nobody comes you pay silvers to prevent an exp penalty. Not a big deal really. You can also die these days and get raised while retaining all your experience with chrism gems from spell 325, 25th level cleric spell.

I remember Sinji! I played Augie. We used to hang around being goofy halflings together. I remember when you stole a bunch of those vultite swords from the boutique and were selling them west of the bank hah. That was so awesome.

I don't play anymore, but I am lingering around here on these forums.

LOL!! I remember that, too! And I remember you too, Augie! Didn't you marry someone you met from gs? That's crazy! haha

That was soooo hilarious omg. WOW! I can't believe you actually remember that. People do remember me! omg! I think I racked up like a 20million silver debt because I kept getting caught. I doubt I even sold those things for anywhere near 1 million hahaha

I'm pretty sure Andraste was watching me steal those swords.
