I will start off by saying that the slaughter and kidnapping of innocents in unequivocally wrong whoever does it and should be punished as such(US included). But try to keep a high level view of the events taking place. Suddenly nobody cares about Ukraine or the house speaker. 75% of US Congress is dual citizens of Israel. Somehow two of the best intelligence agencies didn’t catch this attack? Or did it give them casus belli to remove the Palestinians?

I get that people change, after all look at some of the horrible things our president has said in the past and clearly he’s better now, but something here doesn’t pass the smell test.

From what I read, the reason it wasn’t picked up, was for a few reasons.
    1. Israel gets a fuck ton of false information, could be a result of being complacent.
    2. Hamas went old school, Israel monitors a lot of communication, hamas didn’t use phones etc.

The editorial board of Isreal's leading newspaper says Netanyahu bears responsibility..

The disaster that befell Israel on the holiday of Simchat Torah is the clear responsibility of one person: Benjamin Netanyahu. The prime minister, who has prided himself on his vast political experience and irreplaceable wisdom in security matters, completely failed to identify the dangers he was consciously leading Israel into when establishing a government of annexation and dispossession, when appointing Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir to key positions, while embracing a foreign policy that openly ignored the existence and rights of Palestinians.

Above all, the danger looming over Israel in recent years has been fully realized. A prime minister indicted in three corruption cases cannot look after state affairs, as national interests will necessarily be subordinate to extricating him from a possible conviction and jail time.

In all fairness, I didn’t care a whole lot about Ukraine (at least our constant funding of it) before this happened, and disillusioned by the whole Speaker fiasco.

I tend to suspect government incompetence before I do a Bond villain level conspiracy theory, but I get your point. We’ll never know. My counter would be government intelligence just fucks up and misses things all the time, and we rarely if ever hear about the times they got it right.

There is no way you dont take a threat that would occur on the anniversary of one of the bloodiest fights the country has ever had seriously

I agree. I do tend to dabble in the conspiracy realm because, like the intelligence world, i like to see everything out there, come up with my own conclusions, and then see how things play out.

when you stand back from the situation you can watch the mass psychosis play out in real time. Watch people move from one cause to the next without any real idea why or what they are supporting, they just know that everyone else is and if they dont people might wonder why they arent supporting the cause. It can be alienating at times and its a scarier perspective overall, ignorance is bliss i guess.

I wouldn’t put it past most politicians to allow something like that for their own reasons, but my experience has been the majority of people that work in politics (or the public sector in general) can’t even tie their shoes properly. Who knows…I agree ignorance is bliss.

yeah, people dont go into politics to be public servants anymore. they go in for that sweet sweet lobby money to enrich themselves. Both sides of the isle. I definitely lean right but I'd wager 90% of congress in corrupt and should be dealt with accordingly.

Also…yes the human psychosis playing out in real time is fascinating and I’m not above it. We humans are genetically programmed to organize & fight together when facing a common enemy, just like ants.

All this Monday morning quarterbacking is just a distraction. The fault lies solidly and fully at the feet of Hamas and those that pull their strings. You can make whatever excuses you want, explanations for failure of intelligence, manipulations, reasons for action and so on, in the end, it comes down to Hamas deciding to slaughter people. When you own a gun, you can argue for all the reasons to pull the trigger, in the end, it is YOU who decides to shoot or not shoot. It's on you. In the same manner, it's on Hamas and Hamas alone.
