They'd definitely need training. And responding to an active shooter is way different then just shooting on a range. The noise, screaming, blood and bodies, smoke, your own adrenaline up.

I’ve taken a few pistol & carbine training classes, but I’ve always wanted to do a force on force training exercise with simunition rounds. Simunition rounds hurt like a mofo and it would need to be in administered controlled safe environment. It’s still not the same as being in a real gunfight, but might be a good training tool for responding to an active shooter situation.

Agree with Gelston on that... I helped support some things over the years, and most scared I ever got, was the first time doing a live shoot house... my fucking ass was puckered tight on that one. Thankfully only ever had to do 2 of them over the years. But it was the best training I ever did recieve... but those dudes doing it day in and day out are on another level of focus.
I used to play Counter-Strike in VR (Pavlov) a lot.
As you've probably already figured out, I am a seasoned combat veteran now.
