Is every encounter between white and black people going to be reported in the news as some sort of racist incident now? This shit is dumb.

It is basically his command deciding on whether to NJP or Court Martial him.

And the media is the one portraying it as a racist encounter when we can see two black people walking in the background who the guy doesn’t have a problem with. Maybe...just maybe it had nothing to do with race and had to do with the guy harassing a neighbor like they said in the video.

Or maybe it does. Maybe he thought he could pick on a black male and not the black females. Either way he seemed like an even headed guy, I'm sure he wasn't drunk like it said in the video too.

Newsweek has got to be one of the worst offenders of stacking far to many adds on their page.

Yeah, that is one shitty website. It wouldn't even load half the times I tried. I just gave up.

We obviously can't see what lead up to the confrontation, but I'm guessing he may have been a stranger to the neighborhood and lingered longer than he should have. But I would also imagine it didn't need to escalate to how the Army guy is handling it. I always go back to Swayze in Roadhouse "I want you to be nice, until it's time not to be nice." Ask the guy if he needs help because he's been there awhile and you don't recognize him. If he gives what seems to be a common sense answer, then give him a chance. If he continues to linger for too long given whatever answer he gave you or if he doesn't respond with the same respect you showed him or you have additional concerns, go inside and call the police. It doesn't seem that hard. What it does seem like is that too many people today are too interested in starting drama for drama's sake, on both sides.

He may or may not have had good reason to be concerned of why the man was there in his neighborhood, but choosing a different way to address those concerns probably would have netted a better outcome in the long run.

We want to ensure the community knows this incident has been a priority for our Department.

This town has so little crime going on that someone acting like a jackass is a "priority" for the police department? I want to live in this town.

He was obviously a hot head. Quite frankly if the way he treated that guy was the way he treated his soldiers, he doesn't need to be in the Army.
