Are you saying it's dumb to excuse the behavior of a few bad apples simply because over 99% of the people in said group are good people? Are you also suggesting we should want to hold the bad apples accountable and by doing so we aren't saying all people in said group are bad and that's just a cheap deflection tactic to pull the focus off of the bad actors?

Did I say there weren't good cops out there who actually care about the community? No.
Did I say that every single person amongst the protesters were blameless? No.
Did I say we should abolish all police, everywhere? No.
Did I suggest that one common denominator of the movement when it began was the idea that there needs to be -- at the very least -- more accountability? Yes.

Let me reiterate this again, for clarity:

I'm saying that monolithic organizations like law enforcement aren't comparable to a loose coalition of protesters, because there's vastly more authority behind law enforcement than said loose coalition; if a police officer detains someone, violently or otherwise, then they do so with the full weight of that institution behind them. They're also far less susceptible to infiltration and internal sabotage, incitement to sedition (valid or otherwise), and the like. When the people feel that injustices are being committed upon them by those in authority, protest -- peaceful or otherwise -- is their only recourse. The law is not an option when the law is an issue.

Both side should be held accountable, but there's also the matter of how that accountability is treated in terms of the weight behind those in a position of authority, in addition to other extenuating factors.

A small contingent of "protesters" does not fairly nor accurately represent the larger movement due to less internal cohesion, and are often rightly condemned by those inside the movement when they step out of line; those in authority, however, do represent the uniform they wear at all times. When there is undeniable evidence of repeated police brutality, it generates a call to hold those who committed these horrific acts responsible, in order to preserve the virtue represented by that badge -- otherwise, what it represents eventually becomes not only meaningless, but a symbol of tyranny.

Speaking of rioters, last night they put a police officer's hat on a severed pig head and placed the pig head on top of an American flag and set both on fire, which can be seen as a direct threat to police officers.

Both are escalation tactics, not de-escalation tactics -- the difference is that one was committed en masse as per (presumably) authorized instruction, while the other was likely committed by a fringe minority.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- All of the protests have been a strain on police. Most have been stoic on the front lines, but some are opening up about the strain.

They’ve been hit with frozen water bottles, rocks, and even pig heads.

Officers have been screamed at on the front lines for days and it’s something the FOP has addressed with KCTV5, saying that obviously this kind of strain and stress affects you.

And, this will need to be addressed.

Yes, I can't imagine how the constant threat of harassment or murder because of a certain color would be stressful for anyone.

The overwhelming majority of his posts in this thread have been pointing to anti-protest propaganda.

I have watched videos and seen pictures coming out of Portland on an almost nightly basis with Antifa and other goons setting shit on fire, attacking the police, trying to take over parts of the city like they did in Seattle, attacking the federal courthouse, and them attacking the police precinct.

I understand these rioters are on the left so you have a knee jerk reaction to downplay the violence, but come on, man. The videos, pictures, and arrest reports are out there, it just takes the mental fortitude to want to see the facts and reality to go out and find them.
