Hate crimes are generally Federal cases right? Give it exactly 2 weeks and see if this changes.

There is a federal hate crime but every state has their own hate crime laws too.

Reality is, Obama signed the...in true Washington fashion, and I'm not making this up...ADDITION TO A DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION BILL THAT OH BY THE WAY ADDED GAYS AS A CATEGORY FOR FEDERAL HATE CRIMES....BECAUSE THAT HAS SO MUCH TO DO WITH THE DEFENSE BUDGET.

Don't get it twisted, I'm not hating on the fact gays were added to the Federal Hate Crimes statutes...or even touching on the fact that the entire thing was just lip service, and you'll already be charged with multiple felonies regardless...I'm hating on how it was implemented. Defense Authorization Bill? Seriously?

As to your query...I have no idea. I'd guess so, at some point. I'd have to look in to that, and I'm really not in any capacity to look in to anything right now.
