It's kind of hard to have sympathy for people who committed statutory rape. It also bothers me that the blog referred to those incidents as "consensual sex" and "low-level offenders" and that the judge was "harsh" on them because of "his own moral qualms with modernity."
I have qualms with statutory rape as well. I guess I'm just an old fuddy duddy

You must not have read the article describing what happened. She lied about her age, saying she was 17. At his sentencing both she and her mom spoke out against making him a sex offender, which the judge ignored because of some kind of apparent moral crusade.It's kind of hard to have sympathy for people who committed statutory rape.
