You can't look at 10, 20 , 100 years of data and draw a conclusion to a planet billion of years old. That's like asking yourself about how you feel for the next 3 seconds and basing your whole life around it. Man so wants to believe he controls his life and surroundings. He doesn't.
I encourage you to read the report in the OP, which uses 800,000 years of data (for reference, the human race has existed for about 500,000 years). It is true that man would rather believe than research, but maybe you can be an exception.
