It's a generational thing. 30 years ago, the dictionary and professional linguists said it wasn't a word. Dictionaries are always revising history, a language isn't a static thing. Eventually every semi-coherent grunting noise will make it into a dictionary.
Dictionaries aren't intended to describe history. Like newspapers, they're intended to describe what's going on right now.
