They are both barbarians. Being barbaric doesn't mean you aren't a professional warrior.
Kai would be closer to the noble savage view, with V'tull being more the pillage and murder view.
I'd probably compare Kai to Vercingetorix and V'tull to (classical impression of) Attila.
