Can you do a free trial with your old characters? I'm not interested in starting a new free trial if I can't play my old characters. (By the way, are you capable of distinguishing between a character's personality and the personality of the individual who is running the character?) I also wonder why I'd be interested in paying $15/month to play a text-based MUD with a population of under three hundred people. What's the draw? Is the RP community amazing? In short, why should I return? If the RP community isn't amazing, then I can play other games for vastly less. Is there a reason to return to Gemstone? If so, what is it? (I'd like there to be a reason, but I'm not optimistic.)

almost no one wants to pay as much as they are. no one thinks $15 will bring in the most players. but with a playerbase that is as price insensitive as we are, simu doesn't have a ton of incentive. we can whine about it, but GS isn't really a growth opportunity for that company.

You cannot but you seem so apprehensive to spend money, it sounded like a trial account would be your best bet to scope things out. Indeed I am but this seems much like a case to case situation. As yes, there are people who take out of character grievances to in character situations but this is generally mocked and frowned upon.

You really need to answer those questions yourself as my expectations and prerequisites don't meet yours. If I may say so, you seem very dead-set on doing nothing more than griping and yearning for the 'old days'. Well, that and insulting people who don't answer you in a manner deemed 'acceptable'. Perhaps you should be asking lenient questions and lowering your expectation from the days past.

Thanks for the suggestion. One always wants one's first love back, however. And of course, one has a history with one's first love. Well-developed toons and so on... But yes, maybe I should just give up on Gemstone. I can't see myself ever getting back into ANOTHER text-based MUD, however. When it comes to text-based, I think it's either Gemstone or bust. I tried out Avalon back in the day. Hated it.
