    Way late on this but if you never did get an answer. Yes, primary stats and sorcerer ranks play a far larger role in your success with ensorcell then secondary skills do. If you've noticed, my sorcerer barely has any skills beyond 1x HP and spells. The higher CS makes him a better hunter. He dies slightly more then someone who invests heavily into scroll infusion and spell tanks up the wazoo but I am alright with that.

    Did T1 and T2 casts on some honey badger armor the other night. 0x MCP

    172 sorc spell ranks
    100 WIS
    100 INT
    202 AS
    202 MIU
    135 EMC
    135 SMC

    no workshop, no enhancives, T1:
    You channel at some supple full leather stitched together from honey badger pelts.
    You sense that the full leather has not yet been permanently ensorcelled and that you should be able to ensorcell it easily enough, barring bad luck.

    Went to the workshop, put on about +26 WIS stat and got it down to "you can only fail if you are horribly unlucky"

    For T2 cast, in workshop with same enhancives on:
    You sense that the full leather has already been permanently ensorcelled 1 time and that you are more likely than not to succeed on your cast, but you will need some luck. (drop from 99% chance to 55-74% chance with one layer of ensorcell)

    Put on the rest of enhancive set (max INT/WIS and some other stuff, still in workshop):
    You sense that the full leather has already been permanently ensorcelled 1 time and that the odds are on your side to successfully complete the ensorcellment. (jump up to 75-89% chance)

    Cast:
    Having probed the full leather already, you begin to channel your stored necrotic energy at it. You carefully regulate the flow of energy in order to attempt to overcome its natural resistance while not simultaneously overwhelming yourself...

    You make a very poor attempt!

    Success!

    (10-19 roll on 75-89% probably just squeezed by)

If you went low enough some/all scrolls would become unusable, but small statues would retain their base duration of 10 minutes, even with 0 MIU. No other sorcerer spells besides Scroll Infusion and Ensorcell would suffer, though.

    I can ensorcell okay. Basically the worst capped sorcerer out there, but I don't think any uncapped ones are really doing much better. I can manage stuff that people are willing to pay 2m/week for. I think my last thing was 7x fusion t4 with no enhancives at a workshop - only if horribly unlucky. (Edit: Or may it was with a decent set of enhancives. I forget :-/)

    T4 on 10x flaring weapon

    Use of an Enhancive Boost with max stats does nothing since the boost doesn't affect any skills.

    I didn't know that rotflares had been tested for increased difficulty...haven't seen any comparison data points of two equivalent pieces as there isn't much rotflare to compare.
