Assist GM Interaction
I am posting this to share an assit where a GM was considerate and helpfull. Not to debate the merits of my assist
*edited off some deaths, a friend coming in while the GM was checking something, and stuff like that.
Oh, and I know I have a ton of of typos. It's one in the morning

Roldin nods to you in greeting.
Roldin says, "Hello."
You say, "Hello."
You wheeze, trying to catch your breath.
Roldin asks, "How are ya today?"
You say, "I am so sorry."
You say, "I had to run last time, saw you had come and about cried."
Roldin says, "Oh, don't be.. Happens all the time."
Roldin asks, "What can I do for ya today?"
You say, "Well, um."
You say, "I assisted yesterday. ."
You say, "But it took awhile ."
Roldin nods.
Roldin says, "Sorry about that."
You say, "Not your fault. i live in italy."
You say, "Most of you guys are asleep when im on."
You smile.
Roldin asks, "Something about stormfront and logs, if I remember correctly?"
You say, "See, i logged in and my sword was gone."
You say, "So i needed to know where logs were. I found them, which lead to a new question."
Roldin says, "I've never been there, but would like to take my wife some day."
Roldin nods.
You say, "It is beatiful."
You say, "Beautiful."
Roldin says, "OK.. The logs, unless you've changed the settings in Stormfront should be in your
MyDocuments directory."
You say, "I searched the logs."
You say, "To see when i last had my broadsword."
You say, "I couldnt figure out why it was gone."
You say, "And here is where i hope undestanding comes in."
You breathe very slowly and deliberately, calming yourself.
You say, "It turns out, right before i got healed and logged out."
Roldin grins.
You say, "I was in spider temple with a friend who took me there."
Roldin nods.
You say, "He was trying to help my hunting."
You say, "Cause im not the best at it."
You say, "The first two times he went in with me and i did fine."
You say, "Then he sent me in alone, i got webbed."
You say, "In my panic of death claiming me, i was thinking to him to save me."
You say, "And what i didnt see was an acoloyte disarm me and take my sword."
You say, "So he decayed with it."
Roldin says, "Hate it when that happens, honestly."
You say, "Which I didnt know they even disarmed."
You say, "Or i wouldnt have gone there."
Roldin nods.
You say, "He didnt know i guess that i didn't know."
You say, "And neither of us knew he had my sword."
You say, "In the rush to get me healed."
You say, "So we never went back in to get it."
You say, "And i had to go right away. by time I logged back in, freaked, and read logs."
You say, "It was to late."
Roldin says, "OK.. So, you ended up without a sword, then."
You say, "Well, without that one."
You say, "I have two blessables. it was my rolaren flaring sword."
Roldin asks, "Was anything special about it?"
You say, "I'm pretty sure I registered it. it was a gift. an enruned silvery rolaren broadsword."
Roldin nods.
You see GameMaster Roldin.
He appears to be a Sylvankind.
He appears to be in the prime of life and taller than average. He has slit-pupilled crystal blue eyes
and lightly tanned skin. He has shoulder length, fine golden brown hair streaked with silvery grey.
He has a long nose and deep laugh lines.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a sturdy crimson leather cloak, a neatly folded envelope pouch, a self-wrapped black
silk pack, a pair of soft-soled silk shoes, an angular painted silk robe, a quilted black silk cap, some
reinforced diamond-quilted leathers, and a crystal amulet.
Roldin says, "OK.. Bear with me a minute or two."
You nod.
You say, "I appreciate your time and help."

You put an old wood-hilted longsword in your black leather back-sheaths.
You sling a battleworn vultite shield over your shoulder.
You say, "I think I'm on hold."
(Caiylania turns on 80's music)
You say, "He must get tons of this a day."
You sigh.
Roldin says, "Not really.. Just going through all the logs."
You grin at Roldin.
You say, "No worries."
Roldin says, "And that takes a while."
You say, "I could send you mine, but I know you guys can't go by those."
Roldin shakes his head.
Roldin says, "No, we have em all, just takes a while to find em."
You stare at Roldin.
You ask, "All logs of all playerS?"
Roldin says, "Well, nothing bad, I promise you."
Roldin asks, "Have you evre had anything replaced that you'd lost before?"
You nod.
You say, "When i was like , lvl two."
You say, "I didnt know you coudl hurl things."
Roldin nods.
You say, "And i hurled something, and thought it was the greatest weapon evah."
You say, "So a tolerant gm replaced it."
You say, "And a rolton sleeping mat
."
Roldin asks, "So you understand that a replacement, expecially for something of that value is very
rare?"
You nod.
You say, "But the worst someone can say is no."
You say, "So it doesn't hurt to inquire."
You say, "I've lost stuff by being dumb." ( I meant to add "and didn't assist because it was my
fault" but i accidently hit send and left it be lol)
You say, "But this I felt, I could ask about."
You say, "Since it was part lack of knowledge, and part timing screwed up, etc."
You say, "If you say no, I understand. But i felt the need to try."
Roldin says, "Well, you have a choice.. And since it was a gift.. I can replace it, but further
replacements will probably be looked at very closely.. Or, you can choose to learn from it, and not
use that chance up.. ."
Roldin says, "I'll leave it up to you, though."
You say, "That is fair enough."
You say, "Either way, I will learn from it."
You nod to Roldin.
Roldin nods.
Roldin says, "I'm sure you will."
You nod.
You ask, "Might I ask you something?"
Roldin says, "And it was registered, so I can pretty easily replace it."
Roldin says, "Sure, go ahead."
You ask, "Your logs, do they show what happened to it?"
You ask, "If it dissapeared or she decayed with it?"
Roldin says, "Yes. It was disarmed, and hung around for a while."
Roldin says, "Yes. It didn't decay with him."
**friend leaving** hugs, waves, yakking **
Roldin snaps his fingers.
Roldin says, "Missed again."
You peer quizzically at Roldin.
Roldin says, "I tried to bow after they left."
You nod.
You smile.
Roldin says, "I'm always doing that for some reason."
You say, "I do it to."
You chortle.
You say, "I'm torn. but dont want to keep taking up your time."
You say, "I would hope i never loose anything again."
You ask, "What do you advise?"
Roldin says, "Don't concern yourself about time. I'm here to see to it that you receive the best
service I can offer you."
Roldin says, "Ah ha.. I don't have to live with whatever choice you make.. So I won't make it."
You say, "Smart man."
Roldin grins.
You say, "I don't want gm's to think I'm high maintenance if something more important dissapears
or something. For example the rolton mat was an RP item i use a LOT."
You say, "So I might have to let it go."
You say, "The mat is like 10k, bu tif i had to pick should it happen again. swords are easy to get."
Roldin says, "Oh, no, we see a lot of folks way more 'needy' of our attention than you, so that
shouldn't be a concern."
You say, "Aey."
You say, "But you said watch more closely."
You shake your head.
You say, "I'm a clutz. perhaps I will loose my journal, or amulet."
You say, "And it wouldnt be replaced."
Roldin says, "Not watch, but it would show up if this came up again, yes.. You've done nothing that
would cause us to 'watch' you more closely."
You show Roldin your filigreed amulet.
You say, "Ah i see."
You nod.
You say, "I will let it go."
Roldin nods.
You breathe very slowly and deliberately, calming yourself.
Roldin says, "OK.. I understand the choice."
Roldin asks, "Are you sure?"
You say, "No, but I have to make one."
You smile at Roldin.
You say, "And I am honored you gave me one."
You say, "To me that means something."
You bow to Roldin.
Roldin asks, "Thank you. Is there anything else I might do for you?"
You shake your head.
You ask, "Let a zombie I kill have it in a box?"
You grin impishly.
Roldin laughs!
Roldin says, "Hmm... Ya never know."
** some unrelated stuff **
You say, "Well I truly appreciate your time."
Roldin says, "OK.. Take care. It's been a pleasure visiting with you again."
You say, "Again."
You gaze heavenward.
You say, "Sorry."
Roldin says, "No worries.. Much nicer than most I've dealt with."
You say, "Safe journeys for your non gm chars."
You wink at Roldin.
Roldin waves.
Roldin nods.
Roldin gestures and a shaft of scintillating light from somewhere above pierces the ceiling and
engulfs him. When the light recedes Roldin is no longer there.
