So I'm trying to get the direct shipping of wine to be allowed in the State of Maryland mostly to help out a friend of mine who has a family winery that I'd love to buy directly from. I send out an e-mail to my four Maryland delegates:
Fairly well worded if I do say so myself. But I was actually shocked that I got a response from all four, two of which gave me a personal response. But...one of those responses, from Delegate Ben Barnes made me realize how fruitless it was to compose something like that [the X's replace my e-mail]:Dear Delegate:
As your constituent, I strongly urge you to support direct wine shipping
when it comes up for consideration this year.
While direct shipping was widely supported in 2010, the Senate instead
opted to authorize the Comptroller to submit a written study on direct
shipping year end, and to consider legislation in 2011.
It is clear that legal, regulated direct wine shipping is the majority
viewpoint in our state and nationally. In 2010, the two shipping bills
were co-sponsored by a majority of the members in both the House (81) and
Senate (26). The majority of US states (37, which represent more than 83%
of wine consumption) allow winery-to-consumer shipping.
Please vote in favor of legal, regulated direct shipping. Thank you for
your time and attention to this consumer issue.
Really? u r a freak? I think I may vote for whomever runs against this guy just on that principle. I don't think I ever voted him into office, but I sure as hell don't want that kind of person representing me.XXXXXX u r a freak....i will consider it for you!
