I didn't know if this was something people were keeping quiet about, in fear of a nerf or something.

Well Billy, when a man and himself love each other very much, they grab a tissue and watch grown up movies together while touching their no-no spots until their pants tingle, but in a loving way, unlike that guy you see in the van by the playground.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are other abilities, such as Torment, that will kill a Griffin mid-flight. You still get dropped, so it's no real boon beyond not getting pecked at as you ride out the stun.
