PDF to start, since the margins are WAY better. A friend of a friend wrote The Facebook Era and took the more traditional publisher route. She only sees a meager $1 for each copy sold.

I'd much prefer to have lower sales volume in exchange for an actual profit on each transaction. If it gets significant enough buzz, I might approach a publisher with some real leverage to get decent terms.
