The contents most defintely do have an effect on how much is charged. You really see this on lower level boxes. On my level 30ish characters, if they are being charged 5k+ to get a box open, it has an enhancive or nice gems in it.

Of course, this has all been gone over before. :P

Apparently the system breaks down at higher levels then, judging by being charged 6k to open a box with maybe 2k worth of stuff in it half the time.

I dunno, my data is only at cap using Nelemar and warcamp boxes. I bet is you're finding a lot of orb gems that are cheap.

I never really used the NPC locksmith until I started hunting Nelemar, so yeah all my stuff is based on Nelemar boxes.

I bet Nelemar is rough off in Prime though. In Platinum, it's an area about 3-5 of us go to (out of about 12 capped players)
