    Does that mean I've been given a point (either positive or negative) of reputation 46 times.

    Or does it mean that I have been given 46 more positive points than I have negative points?

    As far as I can tell it's cumulative. Both positive and negative account for your total reputation.

    Some people's rep is worth more than others and yes it's cumulative. I've had one negative comment drop me 9 points and several positive not give more than one point.

    Haha, well I feel that's how it should work. Someone with a shitty rep shouldn't bring down someone else. If anything, it should go the other way and grant that person more rep.
