Thread: Lich and Vista

  1. Default Lich and Vista

Pretty basic question.... Has anyone gotten it to work under vista? I got a new laptop and of course it came with Vista and now I can't run lich If you did get it to work exactly what did you do? I've done everything from reinstalling Lich and all simu products. Not quite sure what else to do.

    1. Reformat your hard drive.
    2. Install XP.
    3. Install Gemstone and Lich.
    4. ???
    5. Profit!

If you have Vista Business class or better, and not an XP disc...

    0. Figure out how to use your Windows XP downgrade rights.

As a side note, Gnimble is trying to get it to work, and some people have gotten it to work. But I would really just recommend getting rid of that shitty OS.

Yeah I've been considering downgrading but this is the only issue I've had so far with the o/s. Just crappy trying to find drivers for a laptop that came pre-loaded with vista. Sometimes its not worth the trouble.

I got it to work, and I'm not exactly sure how.

I think what did it for me is right-clicking on the executable (for me this was lich in force stormfront mode) and going to advanced options and making it "run as administrator"

I think that's what worked for me.

That worked perfectly... thanks a lot!
