Thread: Which Good Movie Have You Seen Recently?

  1. Default

Just rewatched Cry Baby for the first time in years. I used to love all of John Waters' campy films! I remember it being the first big splash porn star cross-over with Traci Lords as Wanda. Johnny Depp is so fresh as Cry Baby, Ed from Northern Exposure is Hackett, and grandma's boyfriend is played by Iggy Pop! This is a cult classic worth catching up on if you missed it back in the early 90s.

I'm saying the manifestation of her powers would be uncontrollable at first, so her adult form would have nothing to do with what nature intended. Case in point: SHE HAS BLUE SKIN.

Bottom line, you just want her to look more like Romijn. Nothing wrong with that, I don't mind looking at her myself. Just realize it has nothing whatsoever to do with nature or canon. Lawrence's body type is just as correct, or more accurately just as incorrect. It's like asking the natural shape of water after it's been poured from a glass. It would have been glass-shaped if you never poured it, sure... but you did pour it, and all over my nice tablecloth. Dick move, bro.

It's not that I want her to look like Romijn. I do think Romijn looks more like Mystique than Lawrence, though. Obviously they had to change things up at this point, but they could have found someone that fit the mold a bit better. Mystique is lean and has a bit of a bony face. She's agile and a fighter. Jennifer Lawrence looks soft. She has a slightly puffy face and nothing about her appearance says, "This woman has the body of one who has been fighting/training hard for years."

She's just too soft, mang. She doesn't have the slightest mean edge to her at all.

Get back to me when water has DNA.

Older movie, but saw 'The Station Agent' on Netflix. One of Peter Dinklage's first roles, and pretty damned good movie.

I am a fan of the Dinkster, perhaps I'll check it out.

    X-Men stuff
I agree, not really buying J-Law as Mystique... nothing against her, per se -- she's awesome, despite the fact that Winter's Bone is the only role I've seen in which I actually liked her as an actress, but anyone that will photobomb celebs and generally act like a goof at a red-carpet events is okay in my book. It has nothing to do with her body type or whateves... I just didn't get the right vibe from her.

Also, Tatum as Gambit? What the ever-loving fuck?! Again, nothing against Tatum "Manhunk" Salad, but that is about as far removed as I can see someone getting that role... fuck, here's a better suggestion right out of my ass: Zach Efron*. Fuck. Anything but that.

*This has nothing to do with the fact that I saw Neighbors the other night, and it was pretty solidly amusing.

    Mother-fucking this.

Also mother-fucking this, less because Nightcrawler and more because... Alan Cumming.

Also worth nothing, don't get dyslexic on Alan Cumming's first name. Yikes.

Shane West would have made a great Gambit.

Nahhh, Gambit was a die-hard Cajun without the harsh accent because of his upbringing. He was tall, wiry *That's lean and toned muscles, not giant bulging ones*, and they portrayed him as either REALLY grizzly, or clean-shaven *in the comics*. And he had one of those severely distinguishable smirks. That's something Tatum can't do. Is that smirk. And the body type's all wrong. Agree. And Shane West can't do Gambit. He just doesn't have.... that. I'd be more seeing..... With proper setup... Dennis Storhøi. I could SO get behind him as a Gambit. I think he'd nail that shit like a hammer. Just my opinion.

And yes, Nightcrawler rocks ass. They need more of him because FUCK. IT"S FUCKING NIGHTCRAWLER COME THE FUCK ON! NIGHTCRAWLER!

I would have paid for a Nightcrawler joke towards one of the hot chicks. Something like wanting to teleport into her clothes to get closer to her. Something smarmy. Yus.

Speaking of X-Men: DoFP... is it just me, or was that scene with Quicksilver THE BEST SCENE IN THE ENTIRE MOVIE?
