Thread: Atlas

    Default Atlas

PsiNet Sage is adding a new feature to its modules:

By typing ATLAS within the game, you pop up a window which will show you all the maps in your PsiNet\Maps folder. If you are using Tsoran's standard maps, it will label them and give them keywords as well, which you can use with the ATLAS verb, such as "atlas landing" to show the landing.

The window is fully resizable and can be 'pinned' to be always-on-top of your game window. You can zoom as you see fit (still adjusting the exact levels as the gifs in question don't respond too well to simple scaling) and you can scroll the map in question either using the scroll bars, or the more intuitive grippy-hand that the screenshot doesn't capture.

In the distant future when my fu is stronger, I'll be approaching things like a "you are here" pointer, the ability to find another (PsiNet Locate-enabled) user on a map, the ability to travel to a room on a map by clicking, automated foraging and critter tracking (like visual foraging but submitted and tracked automatically).

[For the tech-types, I designed the atlas controls by hand, including its loading, painting, panning, scaling, so that adding additional overlay or behavior to image regions will be easier. So while it looks like a tremendously simple little window, it was quite an accomplishment!

At the north end of the space, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep.
