GAUHATI, India (AP) - Even elephants need to drink responsibly.

Six wild elephants were electrocuted after drinking rice beer in northeastern India, according to a wildlife official.

The official says nearly 40 elephants came to a remote village looking for food last Friday and some of them discovered beer that farmers ferment and keep in containers in their huts. They're known to have a taste for it.

The animals went berserk, uprooted a utility pole and were electrocuted.

Four other elephants died in a similar rampage in the area three years ago.
