Thread: -1x claidh weighted flamberge

  1. #1

    Default -1x claidh weighted flamberge

    a sturdy smoke blackened flamberge

The undulating blade of the large sword has been masterfully forged of the highest quality steel. Twin spikes jut out from the blade two thirds down its length above a black leather wrapped ricasso. Gently upswept quillions surmount a similarly wrapped twohanded grip. The flamberge appears to have been carefully smoke blackened over a coal rich fire, deadening the razor sharp steel's reflectivity and shine.

    true flamberge base (WBS 7)
true claidh weighting (40 points of phantom damage, not assessable)

Weighs about 8 pounds, negative 1x enchant (-5 AS)

    MB:10 mil
    Buyout: 15 mil

Bid here, U2U or AIM (GS4scious)

Mainland delivery only (no Teras, RR or FWI)

Don't have access to pcalc, but I can't imagine why it wouldn't be.

It should be.. and.. it should be cheaper than enchanting up a claid.

    Negative enchants work very oddly.

But, lets say it does cost 1000 less than a 0x-1x enchant, you're looking at 9000 PPs to make it 1x just so it can hit magic creatures.

I'm not sure it would cost that much even to ET it up to 1x. It should count more than 1000 points less than a claid, much more. Another thing is that just one enchant, to make it 0x, should let it hit magical creatures since it should get the et mark and be considered magical then. I don't think 1x is a requirement for being considered magical, though I could be wrong and on both cases.

Enchant Claidhmore or Claid weighted weapon
    Enchant 0x-1x 4000+1000=5000
    Enchant 1x-2x 4000+2000=6000
    Enchant 2x-3x 4000+3000=7000
    Enchant 3x-4x 4000+4000=8000
    Enchant 4x-5x 4000+5000=9000
    Enchant 5x-6x 4000+6000=10000
    Enchant 6x-7x 4000+7000=11000
    Enchant 7x-8x 4000+8000=12000
    Enchant 8x-9x 4000+9000=13000
    Enchant 9x-10x 4000+10000=14000

Generally an enchanter's mark can't stick to a 0x weapon, and due to the negative enchant, I am not 100% sure at all. I know the maul released at EG needed 2 enchants and would cost 9000 PPs to be 1x and to hit cyclops.

There is a 2.5x claidh weighted flamberge for 60m if you simply MUST hit magical critters... it's not too cost effective to try enchanting this one via premium points.

At 10m, it's a good weapon for the 95% of the mobs in the game that aren't magical.

    And... someone buy it.

Just because I've explained this to two seperate people already, I figure I'll just post it and save myself the effort:

This is NOT just a fancy looking "1x oldstyle claidh"
It's a genuine WBS 7 with genuine claidhmore (40 phantom damage) weighting.

Why does that matter? What difference does ONE second make?

    Well, I'll tell you.

The obvious advantage is that there are only THREE races capable of aiming a claidh in 6 seconds while there are NINE capable of aiming a flamberge in 6 seconds...

The REAL advantage here, however, is in mstrike roundtimes

    Mstrike roundtimes go: (WBS + 1) + [(WBS/2) * (swings-1)] minus normal stats

Due to the fancy shmancy gemstone truncation mechanics... flamberges become 3 seconds per swing.

So your swing times (before applying stats) look like thus:

    Swings ---- 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
    Katana ---- 10 13 16 19
    Flamberge-- 11 14 17 20
    Claidhmore- 13 17 21 25

Minus your normal stat bonuses, of course --- (agi+dex)/15 -- rounded

So for a half krolvin with maxed agi/dex (-4) the mstrike table looks like thus:

    Swings ---- 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
    Katana ---- 6 9 12 15
    Flamberge-- 7 10 13 16
    Claidhmore- 9 13 17 21

Anyway you swing it, that's 1 second that really starts to add up

Only reason I don't like it is the -5 AS penalty... Just isn't going to fly with my burghal gnome, his AS is already too low!

    Sooooo, BUY IT!

Did you add the 'Claid weighted weapon' part?

I could have sworn I've seen posts where it's been stated that only claids count for that cost and even if it's weighted like a claid it didn't count (points wise) like a claid? Again, I could be remembering the posts wrong.
