Probably goes without saying but be sure to vet who you're making cash purchases from.

I tried to buy in for Saturday's auction after seeing a character called Uliehn offer 300m for $1,000, only to have them idle out in front of me after I transferred the ducats. First time being scammed so it kind of took me by surprise. Naturally this happened on my largest cash purchase by a country mile, but like I said always vet the other party.
Avoid using Venmo for these: despite the added convenience they're typically unwilling to reverse even fraudulent charges.

I pretty much just only buy from people I know at this point, random Lnetters can't be trusted, and good luck getting cash back from Venmo/Cashapp. They pretty much don't give a shit for digital purchases, PayPal will at least work with you and usually rule in the scammed parties favor.

Honestly at this point we as a community need to start protecting ourselves. I think it is highly acceptable to use a middle man to hold the silvers being sold before payment is verified. I know that the usual route is get the money and then get the silvers. And for the like of Goat, Dreaven, Giant, etc that works. Now though if some new name or unknown to you person shows up. Just get one of us established people, or someone you trust to hold the silvers in escrow until the money hits the bank account. Extra steps suck, but losing money sucks more.
