With things like Acrobat's Leap, when it says "ambush" does it mean the actual verb ambush or would something like "punch kobold head" count as ambushing?

It's old language - it's meant to be aiming at a body part. Acrobat's Leap works in the open as well as from hiding for extending your reach.
