Thread: Script Idea: ;what2hunt

    Cool Script Idea: ;what2hunt

    you type ;what2hunt

It checks your level against a list of all hunting areas + level ranges and provides you a list of options of where you can/should hunt

    something like:

    ;what2hunt

You are level 81, here are the suggested hunting areas

    - Region, Hunting area 1, (75-82)
    - Region, Hunting area 2, (81-86)
    - Region, Hunting area 3, (79-84)

    Some base feature ideas:
;what2hunt range 20 will change what it shows +/- 20 levels
    ;what2hunt undead y (shows undead, n hides)

Question i guess it could be based on creatures, if it is, then the region might be tough to determine. I would think actually making a hunting area list might be the best way to go, like a separate data set that includes region, hunting area name, and level ranges.

Just a creature hunting list is not really helpful for me personally, as I am more interested in the area/regions. If i just have a creature list, then i have to research where that creature is, sometimes they show up in multiple areas, etc. So creating a "hunting area list" kind of already takes care of all that.

Forgive me if there already is a script like this

I really like this idea if it doesn't already exist. You can piggy back off of the wiki (https://gswiki.play.net/Category:Hunting_Areas) for hunting areas and then break it down further. Script downloads an XML file that is updatable.

If this doesn't exist I genuinely might take the time to build this... Hmmm..

Someone was working on a bestiary script as well that matched this website.

I had started a queriable dataset and API that would help with something like this. Details are in this thread: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?106523-Atlas

I've largely done nothing with it since, but it might help jumpstart any work. I'd be happy to delete my upload of the script and DB if anyone wanted to take it over and keep the name.

;bestiary or ;qrs critter <level> both kind find the need here. Not quite as specific or flexible as to what you are looking for but reasonably good.

Yeah after leveling up many characters over the years, I still have to sometimes ask in lich what my hunting options are for current levels. Would be cool to just drop one command and get suggestions. I have not tried bestiary will check it out, but as mentioned, only critters still reqruires researching where those critters are and which areas might be best to hunt them in. Whereas listing areas to hunt in already gives you all the info needed. Bonus points for including area + critters, but maybe that is to much work.
