so it looks like there is a pc friendly way to cast the spell (i didnt know/ no one ever mentioned previously). so since i could have not cast the spell at him if i cast it correctly, id say its my fault.

Because that is the base version of it. Evoke and making it player friendly are rather "new" in GS time.

Cone has been player friendly for as long as I've been around until the EVOKE options. I think back when it was Chain Lightning is when it wasn't player/group friendly.
