Thread: Newly Capped, hunting area suggestions?

Question Newly Capped, hunting area suggestions?

    Hi All,

I finally capped! Yay! Only took me 20+ years (i dont know i lost count) and alot of class swapping.

So i finished up the last levels in OTF which was not bad. However now it seems that I need to kill ALOT to fill my mind. Where is the next best place? I can move my team for the right hunting ground.

I would like to try the rift one day, but for now I want to start with an easier accessible hunting ground to just grind out some post-cap goals.

Any suggestions? People always talk about bandits, i never got into that but could try it. Whats so great about bandits? (besides the obvious of accumulating bounty points).

How do you even do bandits? You have to get a bandit task, and skip all non-bandit tasks? How long can you kill them before the task is complete and you need to get another?

What about hunting zones, any suggestions there?

    Thanks,

Honestly, the "most fun" way is to visit them all and enjoy the discovery, there won't be a lot of hunting grounds left to explore (at least currently).

Try Sanctum (SOS), at least to get the bone peripat, which drops inside and will allow let you port there on future visits.

Buy a soul stone, charge it, and visit the Confluence. Most folks hate it, but it's good to have entry and visit so you can see it for yourself. Note, it's best Loot wise to visit this place as your first hunting spot of the day.

Visit Nelemar if you have swimming. Read up on what floors you'll do best on and stay on those at first.

Then, visit Plane 4 and 5 of the rift. Save go2 locations on both both planes.

Then see what you liked and hover there awhile.

my vote is on nelemar or teras in general, I'm not familiar with who you play or your class, but the third floor (between the two arches) is like giant rats for most characters as long as you can find a way to mitigate a charge.

the bandit area's are small and compact on teras, as well as the fact that escort bounties are not an option, and very few search area bounties. Kids don't have to walk to far although the swim with them is time consuming. Grinding out some exp to finish some quickish first cap goals this would be my Goto.

I'm afraid SOS after it took it's spawn rate down, you may find yourself in the same situation as OTF to an extent but if you are looking for a change of scene would be a suitable starting point.

Back to bandits, it's the same as any other culling task really kill from between 15-24 along xxx road saturate rinse and repeat, Krackens fall might be another alternative here as far grinding on them because that's all there is to dooutside of low level hunting and again very compact, and you could ask to join a ship on OSA trip which is sailing bandits with other side type quests.

since you mentioned team, if you dont have a lot of bounty vouchers or the team to add/be added to, you decide to take a likening to bandits KF is where I'd go as it is the only AG bounty you can do as a capped player meaning you wont have to wade through the gems etc. to get a good bounty.

Nelemar can get very crowded very quickly. When I was there I spent almost all my time on the 2nd floor for this reason. It is a little more sketchy since the triton sentries and greater elementals only spawn there, although they sometimes walk out. The loot could be ok, but not great, but I find it is about the same between OTF and Nelemar. In OTF I am mostly hunting in Champions. Yes, I probably die more than the average bear since I solo, but it is the price I am willing to pay. I have only been in the rift a couple of times so, cannot comment on it other than to say it seems to be a pain in the rear to get a corpse out of. I keep meaning to try out the confluence and sanctum, just never seem to get around to it. Also, do not forget warcamps. If you know someone in Sunfist they can open one up for you to go into. LOTS of stuff to kill in there but it is crap for silvers.

    Thanks alot for the tips.

    A bit more info:

I play a pure bard and wizard team. So both pures. We are a force when teamed up but sometimes i solo them separately depending on who i feel like playing or how.

I don't care so much about loot as i make most of my silvers from merchanting and normally dont make the effort to pick up boxes these days as getting encumbered usually means death is near from a maneuver.

I do have some alts in their 60's who are sunfist, can they open a WC for me? It auto-scales to highest level IIRC, could be an interesting option. Bounties seem nice as you get something more than just silver/gems. I use alot of enhancives so that would be helpful. What is KG?

I like the idea of exploring too, and will likely do that when i have time.

For now i am still hunting in OTF but its slow to fry now. Champions seem to get lucky and oneshot me with maneuvers or disarm me a bit too often for my liking. Die quite a lot in champion area even though i can usually one-shot them on my bard.

Teras could be a cool idea. Easy xp squares with easy accessibility would be nice for me to start out grinding some TPs. Then I can explore into more difficult areas in time. Sounds like nelemar 3rd floor would be easiest for my playstyle?

I would be bringing the rest of my team with me who are between mid 50s and mid 60s. I think there are hunting options for them on Teras as well...it's been awhile since I was there.

A warcamp will scale to whoever is the oldest character in the camp, not sure about KG but might be referring to Kraken's Fall, the new hunting area with ship combat.

If you have the time I'd at least make a run to the Sanctum with the Bard/Wiz combo before moving everything to Teras. Depending on your enhancives and outside spells, you should clean up. From a mage perspective, a decent SA set will make it very doable, add in 211/215/307/1606 and you'll fly through.

    SOS Tips:

If you do take them and don't find/wanna wait for a portal, put both of them on the wagon and when you get off, have your mage walk through the desert and 930 your Bard to you once you finally find the gate.

Take a ring to set between the gate and node.

Take extra acantha, each move in the desert takes 10hp, and it can be long if you're unlucky.

At the very least get some easy outside spells (101, 102, 103, 107, 202, 601, 602) for your first venture.

Once inside, the fanatics and lurks should be easiest. The Sentinels have a maneuver that turns your weapon into a snake, watch for it and CLENCH the mofo to death if it happens.

I would avoid the Monstrosities until you get a grasp of the place. They have knockdowns plus a butt-ton of hp. Shapers dispel, and have a decent bolt DS. 917 if needed. Also, Lurks can give you a nasty sickness. Watch out for it, and if your HP starts dropping don't go afk until it's gone or handled.

Last, a peripat will eventually drop. Mark it, wear it, and as you kill it will charge. Try to highlight the fully charged message so you know it's full (a full charge will let you port out to town and back to SOS). Save go2's for the Portal room and gates.

p.s. Forgot to say... CONGRATULATIONS on cap

If what you want is an easy place to grind TPs and ease into post-cap go to Nelemar.

Bandits are easy in groups so it is a quick fry and then instant exp and saturated when you turn the task in. With two pures one of them will get disabled a lot by the opening maneuvers but the other one will have time to cover for them.

Confluence is fun but has a few annoyances like stripping spells and movement RT and can get deadly fast. Cold side is easier.

Great tips, thanks guys! SOS does sound intriguing i must admit. Think i will go for a bit of an exploratory adventure this weekend and check out SOS and then nelemar since it sounds like i will spend some time there gridning tps. But SOS sounds fun to explore and having something to look for that has a function always gets me. (why they dont have more of this in GS is beyond me). Kind of like a quest item that you can keep.

If you want easy mode and are ok with trash loot, Nelemar 3rd floor is where you wanna go.
