Thread: Training Suggestions for 89 Paladin

  1. Default Training Suggestions for 89 Paladin

Hey all, about 50K away from level 90 and this character is really rounding into form. My goal is to keep his training point spending balanced so no converting of tps. I have been slowly adding skills as he gets older and will finish off 2x PF training before I hit 90 and just hit 50 paladin spell ranks. Leaning towards beefing up his CM training although getting him some dodge is also an option. Both of those routes open up small mtp opportunities. Here is his training, just looking for suggestions.

From what I see you're doing good, cman definitely is your next priority up to 2x. 55 MoC should suffice, but your at a point where PTP is gonna be way more useful than MTP.

Agree with cman next, with plate armor and a tower shield there is enough of a penalty to dodge that cman is going to get you much more bang for your buck

Also, recommend training into a giantman or half-krov and get out of the gimp darkelf train path. You can train out of a race right?

question. why do you recommend 2x pf before 2x cman. I have a 78 paladin thw user. I have 1x pf, 1x dodge, and am working on getting my cman to 1.5x with a goal to get to 2x.

When I capped (as ohb/board) I believe I was at 1x PF and 1.5x CM. I finished up 2x PF before I pushed CM to 2x. My thought process was that it was relatively cheap (compared to double CM cost), and it was easy stamina (for GoS) / redux / maneuver defense. Whichever you choose to 2x first, you probably can't go wrong.

I went 2x PF first because I was focused on TP cost and staying balanced and not converting mental to physical. It looks like moving forward I might scrap that and dive into CM.

Anyone think shield strike mastery is worth it now that it will fire on something that is prone? Otherwise I'll add on some passive ranks of something.

2x PF is the most bang for your buck and factors into your CM anyway. You eventually run out of useful CMs and you're just training in the added defense/AS it provides. I did have a note about your training regarding CMANs in particular. I would've spent points to max CDEFENSE for the added CMAN benefit, imo this is the best CMAN available. WSPEC I would've placed last behind FEINT then SURGE, which I see you haven't trained either. As a DE I imagine you're getting heavy frequently, SURGE will help you pass RT and other encumbrance issues temporarily. Then I would've dumped into WSPEC1.
