Thread: bard about to hit 20 quick check to make sure i'm looking good.

  1. Default bard about to hit 20 quick check to make sure i'm looking good.

I've got a elf bard that is about to hit 20 and is in COL.

He's trained as pole-arm bard. He's an alt and has lots of outside spells on him.

Murillio (at level 19), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:

Here is what i'm thinking about changing his stats to, these are set to be optimized at level 50

    Starting
    CO 60
    DE 73
    DI 50
    LO 92
    IT 20
    ST 80
    AG 80
    IF 70
    WI 60
    AU 75

which at 50 will look as follows
    CO 72
    DE 95
    DI 60
    LO 97
    IT 48
    ST 96
    AG 95
    IF 95
    WI 76
    AU 96

I'm most unsure about the stats, was hoping to get some knowledgable bards to let me know if the stats look good or should I change before hit 20.

    Thanks!

I am just curious, did you set stats to max at cap and look at what they would be at 50 and if so, how much of a difference was there? You will not have enough BP for a fixstat until probably 80 trains minimum. I did not have enough until my 90's.

I personally do not see much advantage in setting stats for anything below cap. Mostly because of how much easier the game is until 50, after that critters get significantly more challenging. I never set any of my alts to anything but cap and the only one I ever felt hindered by it was my paladin and his strength until he got to about 40 and things got better. But if you do not mind grinding lots of bounties or waiting till between 80 and 90, then those stats should make him a wrecking crew, just my .02.

They way I look at it, is I don't mind getting a fix stat at cap, seems like setting stats to max at 50 will make leveling easier.

Without question it makes things easier in some respects, my bard is actually from GS3 days and when I came back failed to realize that I got a free fixstat so his are not great, but his stats for hunting are great so he has no issue hunting, but for example hie learns slower than he should. But I have a fixstat for him now so I will be correcting that soon.

I just tanked INT to 20, and distributed those points to various weaknesses that needed to be addressed (STR for my hafling, as an example) in the earlier levels. I can fixstat at cap, but his INT is the only thing not optimized, which is a very minor limitation even at cap. That means, at cap, he doesn't really need a fixstat until he's so far post-cap that it is the best way to improve, which will be really far post-cap.
