Thread: creating a dwarf paladin

  1. Default creating a dwarf paladin

I want to create a dwarf paladin.

What type of weapon/training would a dwarf be good at?

He will have a wiz, sorc, and ranger spells on him, which would make be think THW would be best choice but not really sure.

    Any input?

    Thanks,

2hd weapon, grab a 0x claidh and dont look back until 40s or so, then maybe consider ohb or ohe. If you want to stick with claidh, can get mithril one for cheap today.

I think Dwarf is the best race for a paladin, so great choice there!

Why do Dwarf's make great palaadin's?

    Glad to hear though!

I like them for the elemental/sorcerer TD bonus and ability to hold significant weight so it’s easier to get into plate. I’d only go with halfling over dwarf, but you’d need some pretty great gear to do it without a lot of encumbrance pain.

    This is a common misconception.

When you wear armor it has no 'weight' that is counted to your encumbrance. It's weight is only counted when its unworn.

But getting lightened armors increase your encumberance weight limit through negative bonus when worn. Some races have different modifiers, but essentially if you get weight off your armor, you can carry a little more than usual.

This equation includes the encumbrance factor for your race, 0.50 for a Halfling and 0.80 for a Dwarf, which also applies to encumbrance encountered with armor accessories.

Anyways, I think Dwarf is a great choice ... second only to Halfling provided the right equipment.

    Thanks,
Honestly with all those spells you could succeed with whatever play style you’d like. I’d play around with all sorts of comps and see what is the most fun for you. The spells will give you a very nice cushion.
