Ok Back, you want gun control. Ok, then riddle me this, prior to 1984, as far back as records are kept in the US, the rate of 'mass' shootings was steady at 1 or 2 a year, except for 1970 which had three, then began a steady increase. Now, we are at a point in our society where at a per capita rate, the lowest percentage of households have guns in them in the history of our country, at least according to this study:

So if their numbers are valid, and just anecdotally I would suspect they are in the ballpark; why do mass shootings go up when the percentage of gun owners go down? From a statistics standpoint it makes no sense. It does however make sense when you think about the country in its totality and not in a bubble of firearms the left wants to look at. We have the most broken society in the history of our country, children living in single parent households, alcohol and drug addiction is rampant, people have stopped practicing religious faiths, parents abdicating their responsibilities of raising children. All of these things and more make it easier for someone to go off the rails and commit atrocities, either because they were never taught that it was wrong or because their psyche is now so broken they can not see it.
You want to talk about gun control, lets talk about the 800 pound gorilla in the room and talk about mental health issues first, then and only then can you begin to make a dent in what is ailing in this county.
The gun lobby has nothing to do with this, GUN OWNERSHIP IS DOWN! If it is the gun lobby they are doing a pretty crappy job.
