Thread: that was odd

    Default that was odd

I knew there was some reason why I didn't take my monk into the confluence, but I couldn't quite remember why. All it took was punching a lightning elemental to jog my memory!

But strangely, I seemed to die in mid mstrike and managed to hit a few other creatures despite being dead already. Apparently being dead did lower my UAF by 40 points...

You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
With instinctive motions, you weave to and fro striking with deliberate and unrelenting fury!
You attempt to jab a huge lightning elemental!
As you strike, a deep golden light surrounds your hands!
You have decent positioning against a huge lightning elemental.
    UAF: 621 vs UDF: 575 = 1.080 * MM: 97 + d100: 95 = 199
... and hit for 6 points of damage!
The lightning elemental suddenly flares up as you touch it!
Your heightened attunement to the flows of mana begins to fade.
The pleasantly warm sensation fades as your heartbeat begins to return to normal.
The very powerful look leaves you.
    The white light leaves you.
The faint blue glow fades from around your hands.
The deep blue glow leaves you.
Your heightened awareness of your foes fades away.
The visions slowly trickle from your mind, and you are left with the world before you once again.
The shimmering aura fades from around you.
    The powerful look leaves you.
The thick plates of bone around your forearms begin to crack, then shatter into a fine white dust.
The light blue glow leaves you.
The scales covering your hands turn brittle and flake away.
You feel your forehead pulse as your mind relaxes.
Like sand through an hourglass, your visions of the future slip away and fade from your mind.
Your mind and body begin to relax after that period of intense focus.
Your heightened awareness of your own vulnerabilities fades away.
You feel the tension in your skin ease and notice that your complexion returns to normal.
It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...
You mentally give a sigh of relief as you remember that the Goddess Lorminstra owes you a favor.
    ...departing in 16 mins...
You attempt to jab a huge lightning elemental!

    UAF: 581 vs UDF: 662 = 0.877 * MM: 102 + d100: 38 = 127
... and hit for 2 points of damage!
Strike leaves foe vulnerable to a followup jab attack!
** Ebon-striped and ethereal, a silver-bearded dragon eel bursts from your grey suede handwraps and explodes into a huge lightning elemental! **
The lightning elemental suddenly flares up as you touch it!
You attempt to jab a huge steam elemental!
Your attack passes harmlessly through thin air, as the thick cloud of hot vapor surrounding the elemental temporarily obscures your vision!

    UAF: 581 vs UDF: 646 = 0.899 * MM: 104 + d100: 79 = 172

The steam elemental appears to be moving more slowly!
Strike leaves foe vulnerable to a followup kick attack!
You feint left, then right, then crack the steam elemental across the head!
You attempt to jab a huge steam elemental!
You have decent positioning against a huge steam elemental.
    UAF: 581 vs UDF: 598 = 0.971 * MM: 95 + d100: 27 = 119

Your series of strikes and ripostes leaves you off-balance and out of position.

Straight up fuck that entire area, imo. Only designed for a slim range of profs and builds

I think it's odd that you get to finish off the series even though the first one seemed to do it

I've experienced something similar with vvrael's acid splash maneuver. I was killed mid mstrike from a wound splash but continued mstriking after death.

This is the opposite of the thing where you do a focus mstrike and your flare crit-kills on the first hit and you get 0 RT and no mstrike cooldown!

This doesn't happen with 950. My mage got splashed with acid mid-950 in SoS and couldn't cast so 950 didn't complete.

You get a free jab on everything you're about to hit as long as it hasn't been jabbed yet, with mstrike. Those process first, so you get all the jabs in "at the same time". That's how you died to one and still jabbed others.
