Thread: Loot Box Bill has legs...

There is/was a mall in Atlantic City across from Caesar's that has this gigantic arcade in the back. There's a section where it's nothing but slot machines, except they spit out tokens (tickets in coin form) instead of money.

There was on difference though and that each wheel on the slot machine had a big red button under it that you had to press to make it stop, which that alone changed it from luck based to skill based, and therefore legal.

Fortunately for me, I was able to get the timing down to where I'd almost always win a ton of tokens on each spin. 4500 tokens later I bought the gigantic 4-5' tall stuffed yellow bear looking thing, which was like 10x more expensive than the 2nd most expensive item behind the counter. It was so huge we had to strap it into its own seat on the jet for the trip home.

Then I used it to practice wrestling moves for however long until it eventually fell apart. Damn that thing ruled.

It was like being that ice cream guy that figured out how to exploit Press Your Luck, but without the winning money part.

Was. The kids casino on LBI closed too (It was in Fantasy Island). I don't know exactly when it was, but NJ Legislated the fuck out of those. The LBI one has since re-opened to be more like Chuck E Cheese, but there's no more stuff like actual casino games.

Yeah, they definitely have big problems with indoctrinating kids into the "gambling" scene at young ages!

That's pretty stupid, assuming the kid casino stuff was skill based and not luck.

My grandfather went to Atlantic City all the time to gamble and I'd go hang out in the arcades for the weekend while they hit the tables. I used to play the fuck out of all the gambling stuff in arcades, been around gambling all my life, grandfather was one of those people that the casinos spread their ass cheeks for at the drop of a hat, fly him down on a private jet if he called and said he was coming down for the weekend, buy him cars for his birthday, all that fancy high roller bullshit.

I've been to a casino maybe 2-3 times since I've been old enough to enter them, and only sat at a table (blackjack) once and came out like $100 ahead, and that's pretty much the extent of my gambling career other than messing with video poker here and there before the parish outlawed them, forcing people who want to gamble to spend like an extra 10 minutes driving to the next parish.

I guess I just pwn. Yes, that sounds correct.

It wasn't, at that point. It was straight up regular slot machines and I remember there being a roulette table. That's where I took that example from. It was a straight up tiny casino with table games and everything. It was the candy cigarettes of the 90s.

I wonder if the slot machines like the one I described are still around anywhere, or if they got outlawed too with the actual gambling ones because reasons.

Whatever they ban will be IMMEDIATELY adjusted in some small way to fit a loophole. For years I got "free pot" for a "required voluntary donation" and nobody could do shit about it. In games where the entire reality is adjustable I put it at about 0% chance this has any real effect.
