The New York Times somehow obtained transcripts of Trump's tax returns for 1985 through 1994. The IRS releases anonymous statistics each year regarding high income taxpayers. Comparing Trump's tax information to the anonymous statistics shows that during that time period, Trump lost more money than any other person in the country.
The information came from someone who was legally entitled to have it. But you can bet that person wasn't legally entitled to give it to the Times. Will Trump try to find that person? Well, if it is fake news, then no crime was committed because, as we all know very well, it is not a crime to lie to the public and press. But if the leaked transcripts are true, then it was a crime.
What is a "transcript", you probably want to know. The IRS explains it at https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/how-to-...s-from-the-irs

I'd guess that illegal alien paid the same amount of taxes as Trump. Other than that, there really isn't a link between the two.
