You mean outside of our enormous illegal gun trade and lack of upkeep/accountability for the few laws we already have in place? The primary argument against stricter firearm regulations in my opinion is that we have such an enormous illegal trade to begin with and far too much on the street to deal with. You have to tackle that problem before you start regulating away legitimate users.
