Thread: Where does the buck stop?

I like how the article points this out.

The record-large group that entered the U.S. on Monday, meanwhile, made the crossing in a particularly rural area, a 26-mile stretch of an older section of barrier that Border Patrol said was being monitored by only three agents.
On top of them having chosen an old section, they also chose a geological soft spot that was easier to dig through. You can say the wall is ineffective but they had to choose a specific location that was poorly patrolled in order to have even any success of entry. It deterred people, until they chose to dig.

Can you tell me why they dug? Is it because it was far more quiet than, say, cutting through metal with a grinder or saw? It's almost like the wall deterred these people from taking an action that would have got them caught. How strange is that.

Walls are not impenetrable... they are merely 1 of many measures that allow us to control the flow of people and goods across the border. Had the wall not been there, they would have simply just walked across the border without slowing down at all. The wall did it's job by greatly reducing the number of people and goods coming across.. and the people that were serious about crossing there had to construct a tunnel to get there.

Also, we found them because of some other measures we have in place.

They got past the wall and no one caught them at the wall digging it. But go on and tell us how effective walls are.
Extremely effective as you have perfectly illustrated.

    Thank you.

We didn't find them because of "some other measures". They turned themselves in voluntarily. Maybe try reading the article next time.

"Some other measures" are part of the things Trump wants to get. They have seismic detectors that will be added to help discover tunnels being dug. They use them in Israel and at prisons.

Yes but that has nothing to do with what pb said.

Genuine question here - why does a border on our southern wall only matter? A good portion of our drugs here come through Canada.

    Here being northern Wisconsin.

A lot more come into the US from the southern border. I'm all for walls on both though. Big walls, with electric wires. And speakers blaring Slayer.

Far more drugs, crime, illegal aliens, etc.. come through our southern border than through Canada.

Hell, I bet more illegal aliens from the US go TO Canada than vica versa. They should build a wall!
