In his resignation letter, obtained by ABC News, Mattis said the president has a right to a defense secretary "whose views are better aligned with yours" on how the U.S. treats its allies and nations, such as Russia and China that want to shape the world "with their authoritarian model."

I wonder if the Syria withdrawal was a last straw sorta thing.

Either that, Mattis runs in 2020, I'll vote for him. I don't care if he runs as a straight up Communist (he never would).
