If there's any silver lining to the erosion of our democratic norms that this maniac and his adherents have ushered in- it's that the messenger is as deeply flawed as it gets. Hopefully when Trump goes down in flames he pulls the most cancerous parts of the Republican party and its rising embrace of authoritarianism/rejection of democracy down with him.
The current incarnation of the Republican party has become dangerous, but maybe- just maybe- Trump will inadvertently create a much-needed reset. If the Romneys, Corkers, and Flakes inherit the GOP- our democracy will live through all of this. Had someone else played Trump- someone who wasn't as deeply incompetent and obviously corrupt as he is- we might not be able to stop the country from becoming the next Hungary or Poland.
I don't know if I'd go that far. Fear of primary season is still alive and well. If Trump were truly out of political capital, he'd be on his way out the door- and not voluntarily.
I suspect we'll know he's out of political capital when the Koars, PBs, and Tgos of the board start loudly, and regularly "reminding" us all that they were never really Trump fans- they just liked a few things he said.
But when someone like Romney- who has clear Presidential aspirations- is willing to bet the farm against Trump in such a public way...it does feel less of a question of "if" and more a question of "when".
Why do you lie so much when only Androidpk believes your lies anymore? I was very vocal on LNet and on the PC that I wasn't much of a Trump fan during the election and even stated that had ANYONE else been the Democrat nominee (even Sanders) that I would have supported them. So the fact that I would "remind" you that I was never a Trump fan is just about the dumbest thing you could claim considering I wasn't a fan of his at all during the election.
He has done a surprisingly large number of things I like and I like the fact that he has stuck to his campaign promises, unlike past presidents.
I will say this; if he hasn't yet started building the wall or at least secured funding to start building the wall by the time the 2020 election rolls around I probably won't vote for him. He's done a lot of good but I feel the main thing people wanted with their vote for him was tougher border security. So he better find a way to make it happen because I think a lot of people will not support him if he doesn't.

Most of us on here didn't support him in the primaries. I was a Cruz guy myself.
But between a Trump vs. Hillary? C'mon. Warren? LOL. You're insane if you even thought about Sanders but I forgive you.
Time4fun would have voted for anyone with a 'D' next to their name. If PB was the Democratic nominee she would have voted for him. If Trump was the Democratic nominee she would be all in support of him. She is party first - liberal rhetoric first.

Not that I'm a huge Sanders fan, but I thought Trump was going to be like most presidents and once he got into office was going to backtrack on most of his campaign promises. If I knew then what I know now I would have easily supported Trump over Sanders, if by some miracle Sanders is the Democrat nominee in 2020 I would for sure vote for Trump. At this point in time I'm not sure there are any Democrats I would vote for over Trump. The most I would do is just leave the presidential ticket blank and fill in other elections if Trump doesn't get me my wall.
