"We should not be haunted by the specter of being automated out of work. We should not feel nervous about the tollbooth collector not having to collect tolls. We should be excited by that. But the reason we’re not excited about it is because we live in a society where if you don’t have a job, you are left to die."

How the hell has this woman not been run out of office already? Imagine telling people, especially low skilled workers, that it's a GOOD THING if they lose their jobs.

Even if what she is proposing is to somehow live in a world where no one has to work and yet someone still builds and maintains the machines that do everything for us, the reality is we live in a world now where indeed you need a job to survive, or at least to enjoy all of the perks of living in a modern society, so of course people should "feel nervous" about losing their jobs. What the fuck is wrong with this bitch?

She needs people out of work for her socialism "plan" to work though. The more people are miserable.. the more likely they will vote for socialism.

Saw something years ago... you get socialism by voting it in... you get rid of socialism by fighting.

It's the timeless story that people still keep forgetting... or believing that somehow, THIS time they will get it right.....

    Damn this bitch is dumb.

The CEO of Wells Fargo was testifying before Congress and Cortez says Wells Fargo was financing some private companies who are contracted out by ICE to run detention facilities.

So Cortez asks "Why was the bank involved in the caging of children?"

CEO replies "I don't know how to answer that question because we weren't."

Cortez again tries to draw the link between a bank financing a private company -> private company is contracted out from ICE to run detention centers -> ICE detains people at said detention centers, but finally realizes she's sounding dumb even by her standards so moves on.

For those slow ones out there (I'm looking at you, Androidpk) who don't understand just how colossally dumb this is let me see if I can help with an analogy.

A car maker gets a loan from a bank.
Someone drives one of those cars into a group of children, killing several.
Cortez: "Why was your bank involved in the murder of children?"

After watching this line of questioning. If I owned a business, I would be making emergency backup plans on exiting the American economy if these idiots get control. It's not even funny anymore.

Not my gig, though, I always told my self I would start farming when weed was finally legalized. Of course the government will step in and make it nearly impossible without handing over 100's of thousands of dollars, like New York.

My biggest problem with this is the ridiculous waste at a federal level. We spend more on defense than the next 10 countries combined, some of which are actively involved in multiple conflicts worldwide.

There's money to be shifted around - but it's career suicide to even hint at reducing our spending on defense. This waste is another reason I can't stand the current administration. It shouldn't take a 300 million dollar contract to hire 7500 flipping border patrol agents over a 5 year span.

Basically - there's far more care going into how local governments are managed, which you just don't see a lt the federal or even state level.

Wait.. you believe that THIS administration is the first to have government waste?
